status は Window インターフェイスのプロパティで、もともとブラウザーウィンドウの最下部にあるステータスバーのテキストを設定するためのものでした。しかし、 HTML 標準は window.status に設定してもステータスバーに表示されるテキストには影響させないよう要求しています。
